Why Kolkata is lacking behind in the startup revolution?

Recently, flipkart released its data of shopping patterns and other informations such as which city had most numbers of orders etc.
One thing that struck me is that Kolkata was not in the list of most numbers of orders. Even in the Top 5 cities, 3 of the metropolitan cities I.e. Delhi, Mumbai & Chennai held positions. But kolkata was not in the list.
In a post of YourStory, the Top 5 cities for startups also didn't featured Kolkata. Having a dedicated sector for Information Technology, the SectorV, Kolkata still lacks the startup revolution. The potential of entrepreneurs in Kolkata is still unexplored.
Being a undergraduate student, with interest in startups,  I wonder why isn't there any name from Kolkata which has turned into an unicorn company like flipkart or snapdeal. Many of big incubation and venture capital firms haven't arrived to explore Kolkata.
I hope the scenario changes in forthcoming years. And big players emerge from the city of Joy.

In India, youth comprises of the major section of the population. Youth is a section of society which contributes to almost all of its development. India has a larger proportion of youth population than the rest of the world, according to the United Nations Population Fund’s (UNFPA) State of the World’s Population Report.

With a suitcase of dreams and a bag of talent, youth seeks its deserving destination.

Life and lifestyle of the young generation has changed dramatically over the past few decades.
Education, peer groups, social networks, connectivity, technology, information, creativity etcetera has influenced the youth of the society in many ways.

Over the past few decades, youth has shown a lot of interest and presence in the politics too. The numbers of youth participating in democracy and politics has increased significantly.

Youth is the driving force of the society.

India has also seen a tremendous change in its industrial sectors as well as in its marketing sectors. People are initiating and excelling at a very young age which shows the power of youth. Young generation of India is not only arising in India but also at the world stage.
Sundar Pichai, senior vice president at Google has been a great example and inspiration for the youth of India. Shubham banerjee, the young mid of age 13 made a Braille printer using LEGOs and now own a company Breigo Labs. At such a young age, he has proved his mettle.

Over a past few years we have seen the young people taking responsibility to change the society. Anna movement was large supported by the youth, who made it such a success.
Even the Delhi Rape Case that shook whole world was brought to justice with the support of the youth of India. From reporting the injustice to the social experiments for the people to start taking things seriously, the youth has enhanced and upgraded the information age.

The young generation of India is now much more advanced in terms of use of technology, media, and talent and work power. They are much more aware and conscious about the future they want.

Young generation taking entrepreneurship and introducing society about their capabilities has led India towards a rising future. We can see the active participation of youth at any and every place and part of the society.

From politics to cinema, from agriculture to industries, from education to technology; youth of India has excel in every aspect of society and life.

As a nation towards development, India is facing the demon of unemployment. A major portion of youth is still unemployed due to unemployability and lack of opportunities. These opportunities can only be created by active participation of more and more young minds in every aspect of society.

story of Varun and Riya continues...........

It’s been one month since we last met. But it feels like ages have passed since that day. Some times I wonder why we have to be so far away from each other. A thousand kilometers is quite a long distance to be away.

Since the day I last met her, I always imagine her turning back and come to me running and hug me so tight that I couldn’t go back home that day.

But as said, it’s all part of life.

While I was in the train for Sagar, all I could think was the life spent in kolkata with all my friends, Riya and my parents. The whole journey was full of flashbacks.

While I was looking outside the windows all I could see is that I was getting more and more away from everyone each passing second.

I have got a Government Engineering College in Sagar. For most of the people in Kolkata who don’t know where Sagar is, it’s in Madhya Pradesh.
Riya took admission in Manipal Institute of Technology.

Some one said to me, “class 12 life change kardeta hai. Patience rakhna sab theek hojaega aaakhir me.”

College life with long distance relationship with both parents and girlfriend makes it tough to survive an unknown place. Engineering is an icing on the top.
Riya makes a good support as she tolerates me and doesn’t get irritated by listening to me. The first week in Sagar was pretty awful for me.

New life.
New people.

On top of that, I hate their behavior. The surrounding is still unadjustable for me.

The only thing that gives me hope of continuing is my precious memories that I spent with her and my friends.

I thank god to give me someone like Riya for supporting me. I will also support her and will keep her distracted from every problem she will be facing.

I wish we meet soon.

I looked towards her gate instantly. I saw her. She was in a purple dress and her eyes were searching for me. Her glance brought a big smile on my face.

“I can see you. Purple purple. Ahaan. You look beautiful.”
“Where are you? I cant see you.”
“I am the one with biggest smile here. It wont be that tough to find me .”
“Please btao na, kaha ho??”

I started walking toward her. My smile got bigger and bigger as I moved toward her.
She also found me in that busy road.

“I found you.”
“Yeah, anyone can find a person from this close. I found you from that far.”
“And that’s why I wear specs my dear.”
“Okay chashmish.”
“Call toh end karo ab. Phone ka balance barbaad mat karo.”
OKAYS.”

*call ended*

“Hi. Sorry you have to wait for so long.”
“It was worth waiting.”

I was feeling like I was on the top of the world. Seeing her smile made my day.  I forgot how much I had to wait for her. But now, all I could think about was her smile.

That day, we were together for approximately 40 minutes. Asking about how much we have packed, our plans, trains, parents, arrangements, etc etc.  We made coffee together and it was total fun. We kissed. (Some things are better to be left on imaginations :p).

Then she showed me her building and her colony. I met with her colony’s friends. Surprisingly, they knew me and they knew I was coming.

It was time for me to leave because her mother was about to return home. It was hard to say good bye to her. I controlled my tears and said goodbye to her.

“So?! Jaa rahe ho?”
“jana padega yaar. Else sasu maa ulta latka degi building se.”
“I will miss you varun.” (She started crying)
“aree yaar tu please mat ro. I will miss you too yaar.
“mujhe bhool toh nahi jaoge?”
“nahi babu. Pagal ho kya? I am yours na?”
“Yes. You are mine”
“I love you riya. I was, am and will always be yours.”
“Thank you varun. I love you too.”
“Ok. Now stop crying. And go home.. Else your mother will marry us both here only :p”
“I wish.”
“Accha madam.. Baalvivah?? :p”
“I love you :*”
“Chalo. Ab bye. Jaa rha.”
“Haww.. ilove you too kaun bolega???”
“You know ilove you. Ab bolna v padega?”
“Okay jao.”
“I love you too. Byee”
“byee.”

With a smile, I left her colony and reached at the bus stop. My heart was crying, but I was not.

I boarded a bus to ultadanga and peeked through the window to say her good bye.

This day showed me that I can wait. May be forever. But yes, I can wait.

<3 The END <3
Now my mission was upgraded to the objective of killing those 20 min.

For starters, I started walking in front of her colony’s gate. But after 10 awkward rounds, I was sure that one of the guards has noticed me. So I kept walking straight towards the end of the road.

I managed to walk about50 rounds till now, of her colony, and even encircled that area 20 times. *ashabari apartments. I hate you*

Then I stopped at the fire station near to her colony and started checking out the fire brigade vans and trucks.

Outside fire station, I found a small place beside a closed paan shop to sit. I sat there for 5 minutes and suddenly I got a text from her.

 //// “more 15 min I guess” ////

So now, mission was upgraded one again.

“yeh girls kitna wait karwati hai??”

Her mother was invited by her neighborhood friends for a farewell party. Riya’s family was transferred from kolkata.

It was last meeting for us because we took admissions in different colleges at different cities and we were about to leave kolkata in few days.

Next 15 min were turning out to be 15 years for me. Today I realized that sitting and doing nothing is the biggest hard work.

On the 16th minute, I got a call from her.

“Where are you?”
“At a closed shop; in front of that fire station.”
“Come to the gate of my colony.”

TO BE CONTINUED...

*it’s a story of a couple, varun and riya, meeting for the last time before they move on to different cities for their colleges. Varun lives in Ultadanga and Riya lives in Patoli, both are two places in kolkata*

“I’ll be there in 30min, precisely.”
“Okay, inform me when you reach BIG BAZAR.”
“okie dokie. See you there.”
I kept my cellphone in my pocket andd grabbed a seat in the bus to patoli from ultadanga.
Thousand of thoughts were into my mind to figure out how would be our last meeting before leaving kolkata. We were going to be in different cities in few days and this was my last chance to see her.
This was also the first time I was going to visit her at her home and also it was the first time I was going towards patoli.
There was an excitement and anxiety at the same time inside me. I was looking outside the windows of both the sides so that I could remember every landmark and every thing that I was seeing.

“Where are you now??”
“Just crossed science city. How much more?”
“Oh.. itna jaldi.. CAB me ho?”
“nahi yaar. Bus me hu.”
“Well; its sooner than usual.”
“I have told the bus driver that I am going to see you. He understood and accelerated :p .”
“aait.. Come soon:*”
“Okay dear. Coming”
*call disconnected*

I felt adrenalin rushing through my veins and a sheer happiness inside me.

“I reached BIG BAZAR.”
“So fast?!! You barely took 15 minutes.”
“Told you, driver understood ;) ;).”
“Sorry yaar. As you are early, you have to wait. Mom is still here. She will go to our neighbor in next 20 min. so I will be free only after that.”
“What?? More 20 minutes? What would I do for the next 20 minutes?”
“I don’t know Varun, please manage. Please.”
“Okay. I’ll do some thing. You see when you will be free.”
“Love you.”
“Love you too.”

To be continued..

“Men are dogs”. 90% of women in the world consider and think men as Dogs. The remaining 10% of the women includes their mother and grand mothers.

Interestingly, we men do have a lot in common with this incredibly smart, faithful and alert animal. Well, the words used to describe a dog are sufficient to understand why men are considered as Dogs. (Yes, you can smile).

Men and Dogs, they both are rational. Men understand a situation and then react. So do the dogs. Dogs identify any intruder and react.

*LOGIC*. This is the key element that men and dog apply in every condition. If men want any thing, they get if and they are happy with it. Unlike women, they don’t spend hours in deciding what they want and ultimately ending up getting them what they don’t need.

Dogs, in the other hand; like bones. If you feed them they will love you for that. They don’t care whose bone it is. You give they, they take it.

*FAITHFULLNESS*. This might be a controversial topic in case of any human. But still, men are faithful. One can trust them for cheating also. It depends upon the person whether they deserve their faithfulness or not.

Dog is the only creature, who is tagged as “man’s best friend”, only because of his faithfulness.

*GAMES*. All men love games. Whatever it is, but they love it. If you give them the television remote during their favorite sport, they would love you a lot for this.

For Dogs, they are always ready to play. Throw them a Frisbee or a ball; they will prove you that they can be your partner in any sport.

*LOVE*. Men and Dogs, they both love with their fullest capabilities. They keep it simple but strong. They would do any thing to make the one they love happy. They are loyal to them who return their loyalty with appropriate respect and love. (We are talking about most of men and every dog).

*PROTECTION*. Scientifically, men are stronger then women in case of physical attributes. That’s why they have a protective nature towards what they love. (Take away their playstations and see yourself).
In case of Dogs, none of the other creature in animal kingdom is better than them for your own protection. (You may try lion and tigers or even sharks. Your choice).

Well, all these points are enough to conclude that Men are Dogs. And yes men are happy about it.

(*this comparison between men and Dogs was just for adding humor edge and some practical points to this believe of women that men are dogs. This isn’t to hurt any one or to prove that women are less important and weak. It is just to bring smile on your faces for few seconds that you give to red this post. Thank you*)
